At this year’s International Engineering Fair (MSV) in Brno, the Czech company APT, spol. s r.o. presented an innovative research project titled “Hydrogen Refueling Ecosystem with Rates Exceeding 60 g H2/s (Rapid Refueling).” The project includes a unique Mobile Hydrogen Development Platform, which will provide developers—both Czech and international—with a facility for testing components and systems under real-world conditions.
The project, designated DP008, runs from January 2025 to December 2028 under the auspices of the National Centre for Hydrogen Mobility (TN02000007) and is co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA ČR) under the National Competence Centres programme.
From idea to practice without stress or sleepless nights
The Hydrogen Seminar organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic was opened by Ing. Vladimír Dynda, CSc., Director of Business Development and Institutional Relations at APT and recipient of the “Hydrogen Personality of the Year 2025” award. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the human dimension of technical research.
“Anyone who has ever been involved in technical development knows what a demanding process it is. Whether a device isn’t working or has finally started to function, the pressure is immense. Our new hydrogen development platform is designed to smooth the path for developers taking them from a good idea to a proven, functional solution while sparing them sleepless nights and helping to retain top-tier technical talent in the Czech Republic.”

Mobile containerized ecosystem for rapid filling
The development platform is designed as a mobile, modular system housed in technical containers and mounted on a trailer. This solution allows for easy transport and deployment of the technology directly at the user’s site, tailored to the specific objectives of the development project.
Key parameters and components of the platform:
- Testing and development of cutting-edge components: A development environment for validating valves, vehicle fuel systems, and hydrogen cooling heat exchangers, as well as test rigs for verifying refueling protocols.
- Technological infrastructure: The setup includes a compressor unit, a nitrogen supply system, a high-pressure storage cascade (300 bar and 500 bar), cooling equipment, and dispensing systems.
- Energy flexibility: An option is also available using two battery storage units (2× 115 kW) with a low charging power input (approx. 10 kW), enabling operation even in locations with limited electrical infrastructure.
- Mobile test trailer: Box-body design with a gross vehicle weight of up to 2,700 kg, featuring a permanently ventilated compartment and certification for transport without filled containers.
Thanks to this platform, companies will not need to build their own costly testing facilities; instead, they will be able to verify the functionality of their components under real pressure and temperature conditions, with a guarantee of high safety.
