Vladimír Dynda, CSc., was named Hydrogen Personality of the Year 2025.
Prague, Ústí nad Labem, June 3, 2025 – The prestigious “Hydrogen Personality of the Year 2025” award was presented to Vladimír Dynda, CSc., until recently the managing director and CEO of APT. The award was given for his extraordinary and long-term contribution to the development of the hydrogen economy in the Czech Republic and for his active role in the application of technologies that support the decarbonization of industry and transport.
The award is presented annually by a panel of experts comprising representatives from industry, academia, and government as part of a national initiative to promote the development of the hydrogen economy. The Hydrogen Personality of the Year award is presented to individuals who, through their approach, expertise, and vision, are significantly advancing the Czech hydrogen sector.
A personality with vision and technical expertise
Ing. Vladimír Dynda, CSc., is a renowned expert in the field of industrial hydrogen applications. He has been working in the industry and at the company he founded for 35 years. He has long advocated the use of hydrogen as a key carrier of clean energy in industrial and transport applications. Under his leadership, the company has implemented a number of projects focused on the development of hydrogen technologies, their practical deployment, and integration into energy systems. In the Karlovy Vary region, for example, this involved a green source of hydrogen for subsequent use in a mix with natural gas in Hranice u Aše, in the Ústí nad Labem region a set of projects aimed at the use of low-carbon hydrogen in transport, and in the Moravian-Silesian region the implementation of a hydrogen technology laboratory and a 700 bar hydrogen filling station.
“Throughout my career in the field of hydrogen technologies, I have been rewarded with access to knowledgeable and experienced professionals, sharing common experiences and engaging in various discussions. The decision to make me the temporary face of the joint effort to apply hydrogen technologies came as a complete surprise, but I was delighted! I am very grateful for this honor,” said Vladimír Dynda, CSc., adding:
“This moment is actually a tribute to all those who have applied the knowledge gained so far, to research and development workers, and also to managers in our field who provide the economic and organizational framework for the entire segment. Targeted hydrogen conferences contribute enormously to the effort to popularize and apply advanced technologies.”
APT is the market leader in hydrogen technologies
APT has been a pioneer in hydrogen solutions and technologies for many years. The first hydrogen station in the Czech Republic was put into operation in 2009 thanks to APT, and today there are three more across the country.
APT continues to work on the development and application of new process technologies. A major success in the past was the transition to higher filling pressures for technical gases to 200 bar and then to 300 bar, working with high-purity gases, but also the modernization of process technology control systems. The advent of hydrogen applications has necessitated the adoption of working pressures of up to 1,000 bar and test pressures of up to 1,500 bar. Many modern solutions are also finding application abroad, including the use of knowledge in the automation and robotization of production processes and the development of testers for the automotive industry. It is not only the automotive industry that is shortening its innovation cycle, so APT’s response must always be very flexible.
Inspiration for the future
Among other things, the award aims to inspire young professionals, entrepreneurs, and the general public, and to highlight the importance of hydrogen technologies in achieving climate goals. The award given to Vladimír Dynda, CSc., is therefore not only a personal recognition, but also proof that Czech companies and experts can play an important role in the European and global transition to clean energy sources.
“I am also aware of the considerable responsibility that comes with this moment. Within the scope of my powers and with the full weight of my company APT, we will continue to prepare opportunities for natural business endeavors motivated by two amazing properties of hydrogen, namely its renewability and storability. In other words, for the protection of the environment and greater energy independence for our country,” adds Vladimír Dynda, CSc., founder of APT and its current representative for business development.
