Question 14: How should the filling devices (dispensers) be located at a hydrogen filling station?
Answer: The location of the filling device must comply with the ČSN EN 1317-1 “Road restraint systems” standard. The dispenser should be located on a concrete island, raised above the road to a height of at least 150 mm, at a distance of at least 200 mm from the edge of the island in the direction parallel to traffic, and at a distance of 800 mm in the direction perpendicular to traffic. It is also recommended to equip the filling area with a suitable steel fence, at least 800 mm high, made of pipes with a diameter of 60 mm. The gas filling area must be horizontal, with a maximum permissible slope of 0.5%, and asphalted. All roads in the area of the filling station (special-purpose roads) must have a dust-proof coating. The longitudinal slope of the roadway in the places intended for stopping vehicles must not exceed 5% (taking into account the standard ČSN 73 6060 Petrol stations).
As a rule, filling equipment is placed under sheds designed to reduce the influence of atmosphere and provide comfort to users of filling stations.
